Train gets onboard with non-coal engines.

Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad owner Al Harper said this week that the train is buying two new (new to them anyway) diesel locomotives.

For those who have spent the summer on Mars, the D&SNGRR may or may not have started the 416 Fire on June 1. Although eye-witnesses said the fire started from train cinders, its cause is still classified as “under investigation” by the U.S. Forest Service.

India: Northern Railways restores steam engines to give tourism a boost

Steam engine WG 10253 built in 1955 by Chittaranjan Locomotive Works was on display at Bhusawal railway station. After restoring and making it functional, railway authorities are planning to run it for tourist service. Grant funding of £146,000 paves way for extension of line. The Aln Valley Railway is delighted to announce it has been successful in the application for a grant to construct a platform halt and run-round loop at Greenrigg, approximately half of the way towards its ultimate goal of reaching Alnmouth station. In a recent announcement, a steam locomotive has been declared one of the oldest in the world after researchers discovered it was built 10 years earlier than originally thought.
